We met in July 1980 while vacationing at Diamond Lake, OR. Marty was 15 and lived in Milwaukie, OR and I was 12 and lived in Medford, OR. In November 1980, I moved back to Tigard. We loved talking on a corded phone and was so excited to talk locally and not hear our mom's fuss about talking long distance. We got to see each other when our mothers would drive us across town to see each other and later when we could borrow their cars once we were licensed. We kept in touch until Marty graduated high school in 1983. For over 20 years we thought of each other but never found each other in the phone book. In 2005, I googled Marty online, found a Marty Cooper, mailed a letter hoping I contacted the right Marty Cooper, he responded, and got to say hello to one another. We exchanged phone numbers, but didn't have our 1st date night until August 2011. After getting acquainted, reminiscing about the past, we started to feel the spark we shared in the early '80's. Not long after our date night, we knew we met our soulmate!

We are looking forward to celebrating with you as Mr. and Mrs. Marty Cooper at our reception at the American Legion Post #14 in Vancouver, WA on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 5 pm. There will be a dinner buffet, beverages, a no host bar, karoake, and plan to dance with all our family and friends until our feet hurt.
